My flag both marks out territory and sends a signal.  In the time of coronavirus my flag draws on the maritime signal, a yellow and black checked flag, warning of infection, underlying the skeleton of an Australian flag assembled from found materials.
The flag’s presence on our lawn stakes out ownership and reflects my views on ownership.  The man-made canton of concrete pavers has a lasting impact on its environment.  Eventually ownership is ephemeral, as through decay, the symbol of ownership is returned to the land.
